There are literally hundreds of different types of behavioral modifications that can really help a woman in ways she never would have imagined. Wear layered cotton clothing to help keep you cool and comfortable even when you get an attack of the hot flashes. It is best to avoid coffee; alcohol, spicy groceries, and stress so your hot flashes are less frequent or do not come at all. Sip cool drinks or use ice packs when they really get bad. Relaxation and deep, abdominal muscle breathing has been demonstrated to reduce hot flashes by about 40% when practiced at least twice a day. Do away with hot baths or showers before bedtime to reduce the likelihood of awful symptoms. There is no real reason that every woman must take HRT or like medical treatments for menopause. There are plenty of natural ways a woman can combat the undesired symptoms that this change can bring on.

There is a plan for every woman that can be medicine free if she chooses to look and try new things. There are those women who have reported experiencing a really good reduction in hot flashes when taking Vitamin E; so add that to your daily supplement list. There have been many women who have ascertained that soy has a convinced effect on hot flashes, whereas many others say that that there is not any beneficial effect. If you try it and it works for you that is really all that matters. If it does not work for you then it is on to something else. Every woman is so different it is a trial and error method when finding natural remedies. It has been indicated that women who ate 60 grams of soy protein per day had a 45% reduction in hot flashes after 12 weeks. You get the right amount of soy intake from approximately 1 cup of soymilk, or ˝ cup of soy based tofu, ˝ cup of tempeh, or a ˝ cup of green soybeans or three handfuls of roasted soy nuts. All of them work just as well as the others, so it will have to be a personal preference of what you prefer.

Today you can go anywhere on the net or through a drug store and pick up a good old tube of progesterone cream. This has worked wonders for many women in reducing the affects of hot flashes and even keeping them away for some. A 2% progesterone skin cream works in about 85% of users who were suffering from moderate to severe hot flashes daily with little to no side affects what so ever. The woman would rub into the skin the recommended amount of cream onto either the under side of the arms, the inner thigh area, stomach, or buttocks, rotating areas on each application. You will want to make sure that you know exactly how many mg of progesterone per ounce of cream you are getting to be sure you have the right amount to actually be effective. There are some brands of creams that have less than 5 mg per ounce of progesterone, whereas others contain more than 400 mg progesterone per ounce you want to make sure that the product you are using is the right dosage for you before starting treatment. This type of cream is easy enough to get and is available over the counter or by prescription. An isoflavone or plant estrogen is derived from red clover and has been said to truly help reduce the intensity and number of actual hot flashes one gets.

Using herbal supplements can be very beneficial for women and is a very popular way to help ease many ailments when taken appropriately. They also do not have the horrible side effects that traditional medications have, which is a big bonus for everyone. Black cohosh is one of the most common and widely used herbs to treat the symptoms women face today. There are some reported side affects that include nausea, vomiting, gas, and bloating. It can, however, lower blood pressure, which can be a huge benefit to many people. You will want to use this black cohosh for six months in a row to see the biggest change. Powdered root or as a tea, dry 4:1 powdered extract, 1-2 g; solid, 4 mg (1 tsp, or about 5 ml), 250-500 mg; fluid extract, 1:1 tincture and the best ways to take this and should be done three times per day for maximum benefit.
