Food Containers

One of the biggest problems I have when it comes to keeping my home clean is figuring out what to do with the food containers that seem to pile up. I have a very small place, and even one pizza box can be a problem. It seems that everything comes in an unmanageable box, even many of the things that we buy at the grocery store. Though there are some things that can be torn up to fit inside the garbage can, some of them seem to be indestructible. There are days when I feel like the food containers are taking over my life.

If I had a place outside to store garbage it would be much easier to deal with the food containers. I don’t though, and my husband must take each bag out as it fills to be disposed of. It’s not an ideal situation but it is the way things are for us. Most of the food containers are too big for my can, and most of them require a hacksaw to get apart. If I can rip something up and get it into the bag that is fine, but that is not always something I can do.

 Bit of History
In a strange city, I connect through food and fantasy.

I also have a problem with the food containers you keep in your home for leftovers. I have one very large drawer in my kitchen that can fit all sorts of things, but I use it for my food containers. I have other drawers, of course, but this one is by far the biggest one. The problem is that the containers are unruly, and I don’t have time sort them every single time I have to take something out or when I need to put the clean stuff away. My husband does not help matter much either.

They make food containers that are supposed to nestle within each other, and some that are the same size that are supposed to snap together, but so far these have not helped me with my problem. The problem is not the food containers. That much I know. The problem is me. I don’t have enough time to sort them or snap them together. In most cases I have to throw them in there and run. If you ever visit my house, I wouldn’t suggest opening any cupboard without first putting on a helmet and even then you do so at your own risk.
